About NextStep

No one should recover from surgery alone.

That’s the mission. And this is the space where we’re building toward it — in public, and with purpose.

NextStep is a post-surgery care solution focused on the often-overlooked moments after discharge. We’re rethinking what recovery can look like at home by combining trained support with thoughtful, human-centered design.

This Substack is where we’ll share the journey:

What we’re learning, what we’re building, what’s not working (yet), and where we’re going next.

Why This Matters

  • Outpatient surgeries are rising — more people are sent home the same day.

  • Nearly 1 in 3 U.S. households is a single-person household.

  • Healthcare workers are seeking flexible, mission-driven ways to work.

But recovery hasn’t caught up. And the system isn’t built for those doing it solo.

That’s where NextStep comes in.

Founder of NextStep — a post-surgery care startup born from my own recovery. Building in public and writing on care, code, and creating what should already exist. Healing isn’t just personal — it’s a call to action.
